Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the outcome you want to achieve.

Our buffing service is a maintenance service, and is intended to help upkeep the protection on your solid wood table. It does not repair or remove any scuffs user damage on your table. Any patchiness or light hairline scratches may be minimised by this service.

Our resurfacing service is effectively a restoration service. Your solid wood table surface will be stripped back down to raw and the protective oils will be reapplied again. This is a 2-session service, and includes removing any surface damages to your table (eg scratches, dents and stains).

Many, many, many times.

Each resurfacing removes less than 1mm of material and most of our slabs range between 40-70mm thickness!

With typical use, most customers only consider resurfacing every 5-10 years. You may also wish to resurface your table if you purchased it second hand from its original owner.

Resurfacing will effectively remove all the marks (and memories!) accumulated on your table over years of use, and your table surface will be like new.

We actually recommend you consider preserving the user marks as these are hallmarks of how the wood has evolved with you and your family.

If you are looking for a simple refresh of the table surface without removing all the marks of use, we recommend considering our buffing service instead.

We recommend oiling your table once a year. Maintenance is quicker and than repair, and if done regularly, is relatively easy as well.

You may wish to DIY this with the maintenance kit, or book a buffing service with us.

Our maintenance sets are available for purchase by anyone, please ensure that your table is compatible with these products, if you did not purchase it from us.

Our services are only available for The Table Guy products. If you purchased your Table Guy table second hand from its original owner, please note that we will need its original owner's name for verification of origin. This is because we are only familiar with the processes used on the tables we sold, and our services are geared towards complimenting our original creations.
