Hello, world!
First, a bit about us - we've been sourcing, making and retailing solid wood slab furniture for a little over 5 years now. As you may expect, similar to anyone else who deals in solid wood anything, sustainability has always been a concern for us. Specifically the sustainable consumption of resources, as well as the sustainable production of the items we sell.
As our little outfit matures, we now feel a little more equipped to participate in the global conversation on sustainability, from our corner of the world.
Of course, we are by no means or measure the experts on this incredibly complex subject, so everything written in this blog is an expression of our own experience and perspectives, from our little corner of the world. We are here to share what we've learnt, and to learn from those who have gone before us too.
We speak as the little guy here. If you're anything like us, we bet that sometimes you feel like your efforts to live sustainably seem to make barely a dent in our global problems, why should we even try?!
So let's talk about it. Let's talk about how us little people can participate in being a part of the solution, rather than the problem. Let's talk about the challenges we face, the ways we succeed, and encourage each other to continue improving. Expect everything: from lengthy musings on questions we've been asked and topics we've been concerned with, to short, thought experiments about how the world could be; from our experiences trying to resolve issues, to questions we don't have the answers to (do you?).
If you're reading this, chances are you're already interested in sustainability and doing your part to make a difference. We're glad you're here, and we hope you'll join us on this journey. We're always looking for feedback and ideas, so if you have thoughts to share or guidance to offer, please don't hesitate to get in touch via email* at sustainability@tableguy.sg.
Thanks for being a part of this conversation and welcome,
The Table Guy Team
*A not-so-gentle reminder: we understand that sustainability can be a passionate subject for many people. However, bad manners will not be tolerated (and we'll probably share screenshots as examples of how humans shouldn't talk to each other, so if you're going to speak unkindly, we suggest you use an alias).
